Hollow pistons are an integral component of hydraulic piston pumps, as shown here. A single pump uses multiple pistons to smoothen the flow of hydraulic fluid and avoid pulses of flow. Accurately machining the curved shape of the piston head is critical, as it faces high relative speeds and friction against the rotating swashplate. The piston also needs high neck strength to resist stresses caused by fluctuations in pressure. We manufacture hollow hydraulic pistons with custom design and size, that meet and exceed the precision and strength standards of the hydraulic industry.
